چکیده
The beak and feather disease virus (family Circovirdae) is a of concern in the conservation wild Psittaciformes globally. We conducted PCR screening for (BFDV) using samples collected during previous field studies (1993–2014) five populations parrots Southern Hemisphere: Eclectus (Eclectus roratus) Crimson rosellas (Platycercus elegans) from Australia, Burrowing (Cyanoliseus patagonus) Monk parakeets Argentina (Myiopsitta monachus), Forbes’ parakeet New Zealand (Cyanoramphus forbesi). A total 612 were screened. BFDV was not detected any sampled birds. Our results provide retrospective screening, covering three different tribes Old World parrots, including two most numerous species, contributing large set negative results. Furthermore, our suggest that geographical temporal differences distribution may exist merit further research, as critical component efforts to manage its epidemiological aspects. presented here hold potential baseline future investigating evolution spread BFDV.

A blocking ELISA for the detection of antibodies to psittacine beak and feather disease virus (BFDV).
Currently, the only diagnostic test available routinely for the sero-diagnosis of BFDV is the haemagglutination-inhibition (HI) assay. This test, whilst useful and applicable to samples from a wide range of psittacine birds, is not an ideal assay; it requires erythrocytes from live animals, virus purified from the feathers of infected birds and polyclonal antibody preparations in order to perfo...

PCR-based assays for the detection of BFDV DNA are in widespread use throughout the world. Quan-titative real-time PCR assays are extremely sensitive and have the advantages over standard PCRassays that they do not require post-reaction processing to visualise PCR products and can quan-tify the amount of DNA present in a sample. This study describes a quantitative real-time PCR assa...

Beak and feather disease virus (BFDV), a member of genus circovirus, is a small, non-enveloped, single stranded DNA virus. Although BFDVs are among the most well studied circoviruses, there is little to no information about BFDVs in Iran. The aim of the present study was to detect and identify BFDV molecules from the birds referred to the avian clinic of The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Tehr...

Psittacine beak and feather disease (PBFD) is a common viral disease of wild and captive psittacine birds characterized by symmetric feather loss and beak deformities. The causative agent, beak and feather disease virus (BFDV), is a small, circular single-stranded DNA virus that belongs to the genus Circovirus. BFDV can be detected by PCR or the use of haemagglutination (HA) and haemagglutinati...
